When It Is Time To Replace Your Pipes
Your commercial pipe system is something that you should not wait until the last minute to replace. Otherwise, the cost of replacing your pipes will be significant. The great news is that there are several ways that you can know whether it is time to replace them.
Low Pressure
If you have very low or unbalanced water pressure, this is an indication that the metal pipes have corroded. This can prevent you from having enough water delivered to meet your business applications. The corrosion will eventually lead to leaks that can cause your company's water supply to be slowed, contaminated, or disrupted entirely.
Colored Or Murky Water
Pay attention to the color of your water. If you notice anything unusual, this can be an indication that the pipes are corroded. The flakes coming from the pipe will change the color of the water and will also reduce its quality. This can especially be a problem if the water is used for cooking or consumption. The water may be toxic, so make sure to have it tested.
Noises
Plumbing is never meant to cause loud noises. However, if your plumbing is experiencing pressure that is too high or low, you may begin to notice clicks, moans, and all sorts of other sounds. The sounds caused by your plumbing definitely need to be investigated. If the pipes are banging, you may have a water hammer issue.
More Leaks Than Normal
Leaks need to be repaired occasionally in all plumbing systems. However, if you are experiencing a larger-than-normal number of leaks, this can be a sign that you need to have your plumbing system replaced. The frequent leaks are a byproduct of your aging plumbing system.
Water Temperature Fluctuations
If there are frequent fluctuations in the temperature of your water, this can be the result of debris that is trapped inside or can be the result of corrosion. The fluctuations in temperature can cause your water line to not be usable. Anti-scalding devices are often clogged or damaged to the point where they are not able to function properly. If this, or any of these other problems, are detected, you owe it to your customers to have a commercial plumbing repair technician come and take a look at your pipes. The best way to truly know if your plumbing system needs to be replaced is to have a camera placed inside that can assess the extent of the damage.
